Laundry . . . And, A Walk . . .

Another day in Pakistan! Today was a very interesting day, full of surprises and adventure!

This is what we saw when we walked out onto the balcony this morning! Yes . . . our laundry, LOL! The guest house hired a launderer to come and do the laundry at the guest house! It was quite the surprise to see all our "undies" hanging right there on the railing! We got quite the chuckle from it! LOL!

Then, when we walked down stairs . . . we saw the guest house gates open and we decided to make a "break for it" . . . LOL! (of course, we asked first!)

Yes, we finally braved it and walked out the guest house gates . . . on foot! . . . a walk around the block!!! It was so refreshing to get out and about and stretch the legs. Just strolling around, seeing what the people and culture are like, up close and personal. I have been waiting for this moment of "venturing out"on our own.

Looking "left" . . .

Looking "right" . . .

For those that think we put our lives at risk . . . it truly is "safe" here in our guest house area (thank you Sadeem for your planning). I believe it is just like anywhere in a foreign country. You just can't totally believe what you hear in the media. I have felt very safe here. I felt safe in Russia 5 years ago and I feel safe in Pakistan now (of course, within reason & within our area). I just have the personality and belief that people are just people. And, given the chance, they will prove that we have more in common than we have in differences. This morning's walk proved my life's view of people once again. Everyone was kind, considerate and friendly. We have a language barrier, but . . . it is amazing what a kind smile, nod of the head and a friendly wave will do between people of different worlds! It just puts everyone at ease!

Beautiful houses, but all behind walls . . . usually with a guard house.

"Day Laborers" weeding . . .

Signs along the way . . .

However, I would never put my family at risk. We did stay within our "Blue" Area (a popular, affluent, safe neighborhood). And, kept to the main streets. But, what a wonderful, peaceful time we had for a couple of hours.

The walk was complete with a dancing monkey!

Walking back . . . the guest house gate from the outside!

From now on . . . we are definitely adding an "early morning walk" to our daily schedule!!! :)

Love to ALL!

(P.S. Our laundry finally did come off the railing . . . it was delivered around 9:00 p.m., neatly folded and packaged!)

Much better than us having to do laundry in the hotel sink! lol Not fun w/ "baby" laundry, if you know what I mean! lol Glad you made a new friend in the neighborhood.
I'm sure you've heard it's turning Fall here. My whole schedule was thrown off when we traveled almost this time last year to Russia. I missed a lot of Fall and it took me months to figure out what season it was again! lol
