Power Outages . . .

We have been struggling with power outages at least 3-4 times a day! The first week, not so much, but this week, we haven't gone a single day without the power going out. I think we had one day where it went out 6 different times! It can last as little as a few minutes to as much as a few hours! But, thankfully the guest house has a generator (if you look close, all the homes have a stand-by generator - for this very reason). The generator is started with each outage, day or night . . . and it is LOUD! It makes it very difficult to sleep with the generator running. However, it does keep the room cool!

With each outage, we loose internet connectivity. So I am getting behind on my postings to the blog! So, bear with me until I can get caught up!!!

Sweet Pea is doing so good! When we first arrived a couple weeks ago, she was sleeping 5-6 hours a night, this week she has started sleeping 6-7 hours a night, with one night sleeping 8 hours! She is really growing . . . I just can't believe how much she has grown in just a couple of weeks. My . . . how this age of infancy . . . changes so quickly! I'm loving every minute of it! And . . . making sure I get plenty of pictures!

Laundry . . . And, A Walk . . .

Another day in Pakistan! Today was a very interesting day, full of surprises and adventure!

This is what we saw when we walked out onto the balcony this morning! Yes . . . our laundry, LOL! The guest house hired a launderer to come and do the laundry at the guest house! It was quite the surprise to see all our "undies" hanging right there on the railing! We got quite the chuckle from it! LOL!

Then, when we walked down stairs . . . we saw the guest house gates open and we decided to make a "break for it" . . . LOL! (of course, we asked first!)

Yes, we finally braved it and walked out the guest house gates . . . on foot! . . . a walk around the block!!! It was so refreshing to get out and about and stretch the legs. Just strolling around, seeing what the people and culture are like, up close and personal. I have been waiting for this moment of "venturing out"on our own.

Looking "left" . . .

Looking "right" . . .

For those that think we put our lives at risk . . . it truly is "safe" here in our guest house area (thank you Sadeem for your planning). I believe it is just like anywhere in a foreign country. You just can't totally believe what you hear in the media. I have felt very safe here. I felt safe in Russia 5 years ago and I feel safe in Pakistan now (of course, within reason & within our area). I just have the personality and belief that people are just people. And, given the chance, they will prove that we have more in common than we have in differences. This morning's walk proved my life's view of people once again. Everyone was kind, considerate and friendly. We have a language barrier, but . . . it is amazing what a kind smile, nod of the head and a friendly wave will do between people of different worlds! It just puts everyone at ease!

Beautiful houses, but all behind walls . . . usually with a guard house.

"Day Laborers" weeding . . .

Signs along the way . . .

However, I would never put my family at risk. We did stay within our "Blue" Area (a popular, affluent, safe neighborhood). And, kept to the main streets. But, what a wonderful, peaceful time we had for a couple of hours.

The walk was complete with a dancing monkey!

Walking back . . . the guest house gate from the outside!

From now on . . . we are definitely adding an "early morning walk" to our daily schedule!!! :)

(P.S. Our laundry finally did come off the railing . . . it was delivered around 9:00 p.m., neatly folded and packaged!)

The Guest House . . .

Today was another "down" day with enjoying the guest house. Sadeem came by in the early evening to deliver a much needed baby bath tub! We also discussed the events for tomorrow, Tuesday (29th). The court hearing will be in the morning between 9:00 - 10:00 a.m., which should last about 2 hours. Early afternoon Sweet Pea will have new medicals taken for her visa. Also, tomorrow, if there is enough time, Sweet Pea will be taking new photos for her passport and visa. A very, very busy day!! Yeah!!!

Below is the montage I have worked on during our "down" times in the guest house. I thought everyone would like to see where we have been living!

Enjoy!!!
