New Visa/Medical Photos . . . and the Foster Home . . .

Today was a very interesting day. We actually got out for a couple of outings . . . things are moving along!

We took Sweet Pea to have new photos taken for her medicals and visa. We have found out that her passport has been finished! So, things are moving right along, finally!

The photo studio was very interesting and just a very small shop in a shopping center. It also contained music and movie CD's. Very interesting. It took about 30 minutes to process the pictures. They turned out so sweet (of course, our Sweet Pea just can't take a bad picture!). Sweet Pea is truly a beautiful child and the pictures just made Mama's heart sing! I can't wait to finally be able to show pictures of this sweet baby girl! She is just GORGEOUS!

After the photo shoot, we stopped by a bakery. Sadeem wanted us to choose some "sweets" or pastries. At first, Uppa D & I thought we were choosing pastries to take back to the guest house to have tea with Sadeem and Seraz. But, after we got back into the car, Sadeem told me he had a surprise for us. We traveled for about 15 minutes, drove into a very "different" neighborhood (obviously very poor). We took a dirt path road with weeds growing down the middle of the road (reminded me of the pasture trails of my childhood on the farm!). We stopped in front of a very simple house. Sadeem told me this was Sweet Pea's foster home! I was so excited, I cried while thanking him. I have wanted to see where my sweet baby girl has lived since she was 10 days old.

We took the pastries into the house to have tea with them. We met Sheraz's wife, Moonja, who is also a foster parent. I found out that Sheraz (Sadeem's asst) is Nanny Kathlene's son! They are all such a tight-net family, very loving. Nanny Kathlene was not at home at that time, but was out on an errand for her daughter who is starting nurses training. Sadeem promised that we would come back when Nanny Kathlene was home. But, we still had a wonderful time. Moonja prepared milk tea and we enjoyed the pastries that Uppa D and I selected.

When we first entered the foster home, the first thing I noticed was the sofa. It is a dark golden brown color and it is the same sofa that one of Sweet Pea's referral pictures was taken on at about 10 weeks old. I recognized the pillows that they had used to prop her up on to take the pictures and give a reference of how big she was at 10 weeks (Lorien the pillows are small, only about a 8-10" pillow, she was tiny!) It was so surreal to be holding the same pillow used in the referral photos! So, of course, Mama had to have new pictures using the same pillow! We propped Sweet Pea up on the pillow, on the same golden-brown sofa and took new pictures! Once we were back at the guest house, I pulled up the 10 week old photos to compare - She has grown sooooo much! My heart ached just a bit that I couldn't have gotten her at that precious time of 10 weeks old or even at birth! I guess, any time that you have missed with your child is precious time that you grieve for! But, I am sooo glad that I have my girl now! She is still just a little baby and I am enjoying every single minute of the precious time with her. She will grow much to fast for this Mama!

One thing that was so very present in the foster home was the love for the children. There was another baby girl (12 mo) in the foster home. Moonja is her foster nanny. You could just see the sweet love that the foster nannies have for the children. This little girl has already attached to Moonja and when placed in her forever family will be able to transfer that attachment to her forever mama! It was just so sweet to see! These children are just beautiful!

We had a wonderful time at the foster home and I'm looking forward to going back again to visit Nanny Kathlene!

Below is a picture of the "boys" in the pastry shop. Sadeem (left), Sheraz (middle), Uppa D (right).

Here is the way Sweet Pea and Mama travel - the "Sling". It is a wonderful thing, I couldn't live without it!!! Sweet Pea was a little bit fussy in this picture, so therefore the "fussy" stamp! (I'm so looking forward to when I can share pictures with Sweet Pea in them - I have taken "hundreds" of pictures of her!).

Interesting pictures taken along the way!

It was a wonderful day here in Pakistan!

Love to ALL!

How great that you got to get out and that you got to go to the foster home! Those will be great memories and photos to share with Sweet Pea some day. The pictures with the pillow to compare are nice to have, maybe you could purchase a couple new ones to give to the foster mom in exchange for that one as a keepsake. And take pictures in the future to send back to her, maybe you could start a tradition for future adoptive parents. The little foot hanging out of the sling is too cute. Sorry so long. Thanks for sharing!!
