Happy Mama's Day . . .

There simply is nothing like the 4-letter word, Mama! It is just so perfect to have a child look up at you, with love, and say that magical word - MAMA - can there be a sweeter sound? Can your heart fill with greater joy?

Mother's Day is everyday to me. But, there is nothing like your 1st Mother's Day! My son is not yet old enough (5 yo) to understand the commercialized part of the holiday and that is just fine with me. I can do without the jewelry and flowers. His sweet, hand drawn card and sweet, little boy kisses are treasures enough for this Mama. Worth their weight in gold and diamonds. Priceless!

For all Mothers - My prayer for you this Mother's Day weekend - - extra time to delight in your children.

Below is a poem I would like to share with all adoptive mothers. Especially International Adoptive Mothers, since most of our children have spent time in a less than desireable birth home environment or a baby house/orphanage or institution. The message of this poem is so awesome and profound. So, deep and insightful. Each time I read it, it touches my very soul!

~ MOTHER ~ From Adopted Child

For all that you have given me,
I can return but love.
For you bound up the wounds I did not see
And gave me hopes and passions new.

I can return but love for you,
Whose unmoved faith my heart did move,
And gave me hopes and passions new,
And loved me till I turned to love.

Whose unmoved faith did my heart move?
the mother of my heart, not blood,
Who loved me till I turned to love,
And I became the soul I would.

The mother of my heart, not blood,
bound up the wounds I did not see,
and I became the soul I would,
For all that you have given me.

As an adoptive mother to a Russian born child who lived in a "wounded" world before our adoption - this is my prayer for my Nicholas - that he will "become the soul he would."

Have a blessed "Mama's" Day . . .

Happy Belated Mother's Day. I agree that there is no sweeter sound than to hear your child say "Mama."
