I fell in love the 1st moment I saw her. All 6 lbs, cuddly and soft. I stepped into the world of "parenthood" with her. The initial sleepless nights cuddled together for comfort. The 5 obedience training classes we attended together trying to learn how best to communicate with each other. I'm still questioning who trained who? The endless miles we run/walk together. We take Katy with us everywhere we can, she is one of us. One of the family. On meeting her once, my hair dresser was so taken by her good nature (yes, she goes everywhere). He told me I would raise great kids one day!
She is laying now at my feet, her head laying across my ankles, only needing a simple touch for connection (along with the occasional ear rub she lives for). Looking up at me with a cock of her head as I read back to her what I write. She loves every word, my biggest fan!
She has graciously moved over and allowed children in our lives. She realizes my world has now broadened and the "busy-ness" of children comes first. While everyone else is being taken care of . . . she is always there . . . waiting . . . patiently waiting.
Thanks, Kate - for being my 1st!
